Employees receive more from the organization than just the base salary. They get extra payments, sales incentives, bonuses, benefits and they can enjoy the friendly corporate culture. However, when talking about the remuneration, they tend to talk about the base pay (and just about it). It is the only compensation component, they will receive for sure. Other compensation items are not guaranteed.
The HR Professional needs to talk about the total remuneration of the employee because it summarizes all the costs related with the employee. Some benefits may seem unattractive but they can represent a significant cost to the company. The compensation package is always more than just a base salary.
