The manager has a simple role in the team. He has to increase the productivity and performance of the group of individuals. If there is no uplift in the output of the group, there is no reason to employ the manager. However, the manager has few other duties and responsibilities. The managers holds the end responsibility for outcomes of the team. He or she has to guarantee the quality and timeliness of the delivery. Additionally, the production has to be made within a certain budget.
The manager has to plan all deliverables and cut them into small manageable pieces. He has to reserve all resources required for the task. He has to organize employees to make all steps in the right order. He has to provide the instant performance feedback, and adjust plans as needed. Finally, the manager has to keep all stakeholders informed about the progress and issues.
