What is the difference between SHRM and HR Strategy?
The HR Strategy and the strategic HR Management do not have too much in common. The HR Strategy is about the long term development of Human Resources in the organization; SHRM is about the short term activities to reach business objectives and goals. This is a key difference.
You can act strategically, but it does not mean that you act in the full alignment with the business strategy. SHRM usually reinforces HR resources to gain a short tem uplift in the people management area. The company can strategically fire employees, but it has nothing in common with the long term business strategy.
